Find out about my life as a postgraduate researcher in Singapore!
My PhD project complements the experimental work of Prof Frank Vollmer’s research group in single molecule bio-sensing technologies. Recent experimental results from the group lay the foundations to develop a robust theoretical mathematical model of electromagnetic interactions between nanophotonic structures and single molecules. This task requires advanced computational tools for modelling subatomic interactions in many-body systems; using molecular dynamics and ab intio methods such as density functional theory as a starting point for this endeavour. As part of my PhD programme, I will be attached to A*STAR in Singapore for 2 years, where I will use the High Performance Computing facilities to achieve these goals.
